Violence in Nigeria

Boko Haram, which means ‘western education is forbidden’ when translated from the local Harusa languages. They are the ones behind series of attacks in the country. Boko Haram group claims that their attacks are for the bloodiest assault to dates, they also want to overthrow the National government and install an Islamic law and that is why that’s why they are attacking symbols of state power, like the police and booming churches and killing both Muslims and Christians.

It is surprising that the government is unable to do anything for the country about this situation that is causing much suffering to the Nigerians. The country is so far divided into two nations: the Muslims in the North and Christians in the South. The recent blasts attack in the Northern Nigeria city of Kano with almost nine million people killed almost 150 people. This is the most deadly planned assault by the group. The hospitals and mortuaries are getting packed, no enough space, caused by the blasts.

Of late the group has been attacking the government, churches and the Northern Nigeria making people flee to safe places. Reports collected shows that four police stations in the country have been targeted. This is where the question arises, if the police are being targeted, who will protect the Nigerians?

The spokesman of the Boko Haram, Abul Qada, says that their attack in Kano was because the group members arrested were not released by the authorities. It was indeed a harsh decision which costs lives of people.
